Business leaders, politicians and UN representatives gather at Mansion House in London on the 22nd of May 2024 for the launch of the Global Fair Pay Charter.

Despite the Tea Industry being worth over $150 million, the workers who cultivate and harvest the tea receive very little of this wealth. The Global Fair Pay Charter, conceived by Sheikh Aliur Rahman (OBE) who has been working on the campaign for over 24 years, aims to improve the living conditions and pay for over 25 million tea plantation workers worldwide.

Many leaders and ambassadors of the UN were in attendance of the launch including the Lord Mayor Michael Manelli, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland and the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Nikhil Seth.

The launch aims to educate consumers, build relationships with tea-producing countries to develop long-term solutions for the industry, and engage with international NGOs to take active steps in implementing the Charter.
