PEPSICO CEO INAUGURATES ITS THREE PAVILIONS AT EXPO 2020 DUBAI OPENING CEREMONY

As part of the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai, Ramon Laguarta, CEO, PepsiCoofficially opened the company’s three pavilions to the public.

The ribbon-cutting moment marked the official start of the PepsiCo experience at Expo 2020 Dubai. The official beverage and snack partner is using Expo to showcase the latest innovations which will change the way we shop and consume products forever.

Over the six months of the event, PepsiCo aims to use Expo 2020 Dubai to introduce meaningful change that will address some of the world’s biggest global issues, with the eco-conscious vision going hand-in-hand with the goal of Expo 2020 Dubai being the most sustainable in history.

The innovations showcased at the Pepsi Plus Lay’s Pavilion, Aquafina Drop Pavilion and Gatorade Bolt Pavilion include:

·         4 zero-staffed, cashless Pepsi Go stores designed for snacking on the go. Its artificial intelligence vision or AI-based technology will allow visitors to walk in, authenticate their method of payment, grab a snack from the shelves and simply walk out

  • 30 Aquafina water stations, allowing people to customize their drinking water, be it sparkling or still, flavoured or plain. Each comes paired with a special reusable tumbler with unlimited refills to help visitors cut down on their plastic consumption. They also carry a QR code that visitors must scan to unlock the machine and create their own bespoke drink. For your second refill, the stations will remember your exact recipe with the help of your unique code.
  • Baked multigrain snack Sunbites will come in limited-edition eco-friendly packets at Expo. PepsiCo wants to make sure that 100 per cent of its packaging is either recyclable, compostable or biodegradable. The material is plant-based, which makes it a first for the company in the region, and hence it’s completely compostable. The innovation even takes greenhouse gases into consideration as composting means fewer emissions are released into the atmosphere than by traditional packaging.

Visit PepsiCo’s Three Extraordinary Pavilions

The Bolt, The Drop and The Plus are perfectly aligned with Expo 2020 Dubai’s three subthemes and will showcase how PepsiCo will lead the world towards a fun and sustainable future.

The Plus, located in the Opportunity district, combines two of the world’s biggest brands: Pepsi® and Lays®. Fizzing with possibility and bringing joy across multiple experiential zones, Pepsi® will be amplifying young changemakers while the Lays® experience will reward curiosity and entice discovery.

Celebrating any and everybody who lives an active lifestyle, the Bolt is centered around Gatorade® and fueling athletic performance through continual personalization. Zig-zagging through the iconic Gatorade® lightning bolt logo, experience activations that educate visitors on what Gatorade® stands for, the legendary athletes that use it, the sports science that goes into every bottle, and how Gatorade® can make them a better version of themselves moving forward. The Bolt can be found in the Mobility district.

Bringing the literal and the metaphorical to life, the Drop, headlined by Aquafina®, is designed to look like a giant droplet and will inspire and evoke action. Located in the Sustainability district, the Drop will educate visitors on how all of us play a role in making a positive impact on water, and our overall environment. 

Pepsi Go, the brand’s first unmanned AI-powered store, offers a seamless, invisible check-out experience is ready on site to welcome visitors to the future of retail. Expo 2020 Dubai’s visitors will be able to walk into any of the four available Pepsi Go stores, authenticate their method of payment, grab snacks and beverages from the shelves and simply walk out.

PepsiCo has promised to bring its unique sense of fun through the six months of Expo 2020 Dubai, including world class entertainment and appearances from some of the Greatest Of All Time athletes. PepsiCo will also contribute to vital industry conversations that aim to unite people, communities, and nations to deliver solutions to some of the most pressing issues facing the planet.

In celebration of Expo 2020 Dubai, PepsiCo is helping people see the world in a whole new way with their limited-edition Pepsi® Cans of the World. By scanning a QR code printed on the can, consumers can bring to life an Augmented Reality (AR) experience for nine different countries: China, Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the Philippines, the UAE, the UK and the US. Available at the Plus pavilion, the Pepsi® Cans of the World will deliver the true Pepsi® experience in taste, sound and sight.
