TOTO WOLFF DISCUSSES THE UPCOMING BRITISH GRAND PRIX AND THE SEASON'S CHALLENGES

Thursday 30th June, 2022: Speaking today ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Toto Wolff, the Team Principal & CEO of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1™ Team discusses his excitement:

“Now, we have two British drivers and we are based in Brackley and in Brixworth. That makes it very very special for us.”
“We are at home here.”

Discussing the team’s biggest challenge for the remainder of the season, he says:

“Well the five podiums is good, but there isn’t any victory among them and I’d like to see the team in a position that we can fight for victories on track and everybody keeps developing their cars and we not only need to catch up, but all develop them and that is a challenge.”

“We have new regulations coming up, we have new enemies performing well and you just need to constantly continue the pursuit of excellence.”

During Wolff’s time as the Team Principal & CEO of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1™ Team, the team has won eight consecutive constructors’ titles between 2014 and 2021 – more than any other team in elite world sport. 

To honour Wolff’s achievements thus far, ahead of the British Grand Prix™ in Silverstone, IWC is proud to announce the auction of the last Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Toto Wolff x Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One™ Team.”

The watch numbered 50 out of 100 – the last available – will be auctioned by international auction house Bonhams, with the proceeds going to Ignite, a joint charitable initiative operated by the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1™ Team and Sir Lewis Hamilton to support greater diversity and inclusion in motorsport.  In addition, IWC Schaffhausen today announces the established of an annual donation of 50,000 Euros to Ignite.
